The following policies are only in effect for the Web pages owned by Child Abuse Resource Center, dba Causing Hope and hereafter referred to as "Causing Hope." The following discloses our Privacy Policy and Donor Privacy Policy.

WHAT ARE COOKIES?
Our site uses cookies to keep track of your use of our site. Cookies are stored on your computer, and are not stored on the causinghope.org site anywhere. We use cookies to deliver content specific to your interests, and to recognize you when you visit our site. A cookie cannot read data off your hard disk or read cookie files created by other sites. Cookies do not damage your system. WHAT OTHER INFORMATION DO YOU REQUEST?
We may also request your email address or mailing address for the purposes of conducting a survey or to provide additional services (for example, subscriptions to email newsletters, announcement lists, or information about seminars). Whenever we request the identity of a visitor, we will clearly indicate the purpose of the inquiry before the information is requested.

In addition, causinghope.org will not send you email that you have not agreed to receive. We may from time to time send email announcing new information and services. If you choose to supply your postal address in an online form, you may receive mailings.

If you choose to donate or purchase something online, we need to know your name, email address, mailing address, credit card number, and expiration date. This allows us to process and fulfill your order and to notify you of your order status. This information may also be used by us to notify you of related product and services.

DONOR PRIVACY POLICY
We will not trade, share, or sell a donor’s personal information with anyone else, nor we will send donor mailings on behalf of other organizations. Additionally, we will only share or sell personal information once a donor has given us specific permission to do so.

This Donor Privacy Policy is not limited to information collected online on our website. It includes all donors and donations whether received online, offline, in person, or otherwise.

WILL YOU DISCLOSE THE INFORMATION YOU COLLECT TO OUTSIDE THIRD PARTIES?

Causing Hope will disclose personal information when required by law or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to:

  1. Conform to the edicts of the law or comply with a legal process served on Causing Hope,

  2. Protect and defend the rights or property of Causing Hope or visitors to causinghope.org,

  3. Identify persons who may be violating the law, the legal notice, or the rights of third parties,

  4. Cooperate with the investigations of purported unlawful activities.

  5. Participate in research that is beneficial to the study of child sexual abuse prevention.

Causing Hope uses reasonable precautions to keep the information disclosed to us secure. We are not responsible for any breach of security or for any actions of any third parties which receive the information.

WHAT ELSE SHOULD I KNOW ABOUT MY PRIVACY WHEN ONLINE?

The causinghope.org site contains links to other websites. Causing Hope is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such websites. Causing Hope does not share any of the individual personal information you provide causinghope.org with the sites to which causinghope.org links, although causinghope.org may share aggregate data with such websites (such as how many people use our site). Please check with those sites to determine their privacy policy.

Please keep in mind that whenever you voluntarily disclose personal information online – for example through email, discussion lists, or elsewhere – that information can be collected and used by others. In short, if you post personal information online that is accessible to the public, you may receive unsolicited messages from other parties in return.

The Causing Hope website and related Internet media properties (the “Site”) is an online information service provided by Causing Hope, not for profit organization (“Child Abuse Resource Center”), subject to your compliance with the terms and conditions set forth below.

PLEASE READ THIS DOCUMENT CAREFULLY BEFORE ACCESSING OR USING THE SITE. BY ACCESSING OR USING THE SITE, YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS SET FORTH BELOW. IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS, YOU MAY NOT ACCESS OR USE THE SITE. CAUSING HOPE MAY MODIFY THIS AGREEMENT AT ANY TIME, AND SUCH MODIFICATIONS SHALL BE EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY UPON POSTING OF THE MODIFIED AGREEMENT ON THE SITE. 1. Copyright, Licenses, and Idea Submissions

Domestic and International copyright and trademark laws protect the entire contents of the Site. The owners of the intellectual property, copyrights and trademarks are Causing Hope, its affiliates, or other third party licensors. YOU MAY NOT MODIFY, COPY, REPRODUCE, REPUBLISH, UPLOAD, POST, TRANSMIT, OR DISTRIBUTE, IN ANY MANNER, THE MATERIAL ON THE SITE, INCLUDING TEXT, GRAPHICS, CODE AND/OR SOFTWARE.

You may print and download portions of material from the different areas of the Site solely for your own non-commercial use provided that you agree not to change or delete any copyright or proprietary notices from the materials. You agree to grant to Causing Hope, a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, sub-licensable, perpetual license, with the right to sub-license, to reproduce, distribute, transmit, create derivative works of, publicly display and publicly perform any materials and other information (including, without limitation, ideas contained therein for new or improved products and services) you submit to any public areas of the Site (such as bulletin boards, forums and newsgroups) or by email to Causing Hope by all means and in any media now known or hereafter developed. You also grant to Causing Hope the right to use your name in connection with the submitted materials and other information as well as in connection with all advertising, marketing and promotional material related thereto. You agree that you shall have no recourse against Causing Hope for any alleged or actual infringement or misappropriation of any proprietary right in your communications to Causing Hope.

2. Use of the Site

You understand that, except for information, products or services clearly identified as being supplied by Causing Hope, Child Abuse Resource Center does not operate, control or endorse any information, products or services on the Internet in any way. Except for Causing Hope – identified information, products or services, all information, products and services offered through the Site or on the Internet generally are offered by third parties that are not affiliated with Causing Hope. You also understand that Causing Hope cannot and does not guarantee or warrant that files available for downloading through the Site will be free of infection or viruses, worms, Trojan horses or other code that manifest contaminating or destructive properties. You are responsible for implementing sufficient procedures and checkpoints to satisfy your particular requirements for accuracy of data input and output, and for maintaining a means external to the Site for the reconstruction of any lost data.

In connection with your use of the Site, you agree you will not:
a) Transmit any message, information, data, text, software or images, or other content (“Material”) that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortious, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libelous, or otherwise objectionable that may invade another’s right of privacy or publicity;
b) Impersonate any person or entity, including but not limited to, a Causing Hope official, forum leader, guide or host or falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity;

d) Post or transmit any Material that contains a virus or corrupted data;
e) Delete any author attributions, legal notices or proprietary designations or labels that you upload to any communication feature;
f) Use the Site’s communication features in a manner that adversely affects the availability of its resources to other users (e.g., excessive shouting, use of all caps, or flooding continuous posting of repetitive text);
g) Post or transmit any unsolicited advertising, promotional materials, “junk mail”, “spam,””chain letters,” “pyramid schemes” or any other form of solicitation or any non-resume information such as opinions or notices, commercial or otherwise;
h) Violate any applicable local, state, national or international law;
i) Upload or transmit any Material that infringes any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright or other proprietary rights of any party;
j) Delete or revise any Material posted by any other person or entity; or
k) Manipulate or otherwise display the Site by using framing or similar navigational technology.

YOU ASSUME TOTAL RESPONSIBILITY AND RISK FOR YOUR USE OF THE SITE AND THE INTERNET. CAUSING HOPE PROVIDES THE SITE AND RELATED INFORMATION “AS IS” AND DOES NOT MAKE ANY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES, REPRESENTATIONS, OR ENDORSEMENTS WHATSOEVER (INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF TITLE OR NONINFRINGEMENT, OR THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE) WITH REGARD TO THE SERVICE, ANY MERCHANDISE INFORMATION OR SERVICE PROVIDED THROUGH THE SERVICE OR ON THE INTERNET GENERALLY, AND CAUSING HOPE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY COST OR DAMAGE ARISING EITHER DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY FROM ANY SUCH TRANSACTION. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
IN NO EVENT WILL CAUSING HOPE BE LIABLE FOR (I) ANY INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR INDIRECT DAMAGES (INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, LOSS OF PROGRAMS OR INFORMATION, AND THE LIKE) ARISING OUT OF THE USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, OR ANY INFORMATION, OR TRANSACTIONS PROVIDED ON THE SERVICE, OR DOWNLOADED FROM THE SERVICE, OR ANY DELAY OF SUCH INFORMATION OR SERVICE. EVEN IF CAUSING HOPE OR ITS AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVES HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES, OR (II) ANY CLAIM ATTRIBUTABLE TO ERRORS, OMISSIONS, OR OTHER INACCURACIES IN THE SERVICE AND/OR MATERIALS OR INFORMATION DOWNLOADED THROUGH THE SERVICE. BECAUSE SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF LIABILITY FOR CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES, THE ABOVE LIMITATION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. IN SUCH STATES, CAUSING HOPE’S LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE GREATEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

3. Equipment

You shall be responsible for obtaining and maintaining all telephone, computer hardware and other equipment needed for access to and use of the Site and all charges related thereto.

4. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless Causing Hope, its officers, directors, employees, agents, licensors, suppliers and any third party information providers to the Site from and against all losses, expenses, damages and costs, including attorneys’ fees, resulting from any violation of this Agreement (including negligent or wrongful conduct) by you or your use and access of the Site.

5. Third Party Rights

The provisions of paragraphs 2 (Use of the Site), and 4 (Indemnification) are for the benefit of Causing Hope and its officers, directors, employees, agents, licensors, suppliers, and any third party information providers to the Site. Each of these individuals or entities shall have the right to assert and enforce those provisions directly against you on its own behalf.

6. Term; Termination

Either party without notice may terminate this Agreement at any time for any reason. The provisions of paragraphs 1 (Copyright, Licenses and Idea Submissions), 2 (Use of the Site), 4 (Indemnification), 5 (Third Party Rights) and 10 (Miscellaneous) shall survive any termination of this Agreement.

7. Special Admonitions for International Use

Recognizing the global nature of the Internet, you agree to comply with all local rules including, without limitation, rules about the Internet, data, email, or privacy. Specifically, you agree to comply with all applicable laws regarding the transmission of technical data exported from the United States or the country in which you reside.

8. Dealings with Third Parties

Your participation, correspondence or business dealings with any third party found on or through the Site, regarding the payment and delivery of related goods or services, and any other terms, conditions, warranties or representations associated with such dealings, are solely between you and such third party. You agree that Causing Hope shall not be responsible or liable for any loss, damage or other matters of any sort incurred as the result of any such dealings.

9. Links

The Site may provide, or third parties may provide, links to non-Causing Hope Internet World Wide websites or resources. Because Causing Hope has no control over such sites and resources, you acknowledge and agree that Causing Hope is not responsible for the availability of such external sites or resources, and does not endorse and is not responsible or liable for any content, advertising, products, or other materials on or available from such sites or resources. You further acknowledge and agree that Causing Hope shall not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with use of or reliance on any such content, goods or services available on or through any such site or resource.

10. Miscellaneous

This Agreement shall all be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of North Carolina applicable to agreements made and to be performed in North Carolina. You agree that any legal action or proceeding between Causing Hope and you for any purpose concerning this Agreement or the parties’ obligations hereunder shall be brought exclusively in a federal or state court of competent jurisdiction sitting in the county of Pamlico, State of North Carolina.


Any cause of action or claim you may have with respect to the Site must be commenced within one (1) year after the claim or cause of action arises or such claim or cause of action is barred. Causing Hope’s failure to insist upon or enforce strict performance of any provision of this Agreement shall not be construed as a waiver of any provision or right. Neither the course of conduct between the parties nor trade practice shall act to modify any provision of this Agreement. Causing Hope may assign its rights and duties under this Agreement to any party at any time without notice to you.

11. Sharing
We may share statistical information about your visit to our Site with our advertisers and other partners, or with a governmental entity if required (by law, regulation, court order, warrant), or simply upon request.

12. Google Analytics, Google Adwords and other third party applications
This site may have implemented Google Analytics, Google Adwords and other third party applications for Display Advertising, in order to advertise online via their “Remarketing” features. Third-party vendors, including Google, may show our ads on sites across the Internet.  We and third-party vendors, including Google, use first-party cookies (such as the Google Analytics cookie) and third-party cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) together to inform, optimize, and serve ads based on someone’s past visits to our Pages. A. Marketing and Advertising:
Unless you opt out as described below, we use your personal data regarding products and services you have ordered, or in which you have otherwise demonstrated an interest, as necessary to provide you information about the products and services that we think might interest you in accordance with applicable law.

B.Reporting suspected criminal acts, Network and information security, and fraud prevention:
In the event of a suspected criminal act, fraud, or a security incident, we would examine personal data that appeared to be linked to the incident as necessary to determine what happened, remediate, report to the authorities, and prevent a recurrence.

C. Right to Object to Processing for Direct Marketing or Legitimate Interests:
EEA Individuals have the right to object to the processing of their personal data for purposes of our direct marketing or legitimate interests by contacting us at the email address listed at the bottom of this Privacy Policy.

2. Individual Rights:
EEA Individuals have the right to access their personal data collected by the Site and to request that we update, correct, or delete their personal data as provided by applicable law.  EEA Individuals also have the right to restrict, or object to, our processing of their personal data.

In addition, EEA Individuals have the right to data portability concerning their personal data.  Subject to certain limitations, the right to data portability allows EEA Individuals to obtain from us, or to ask us to send to a third party, a digital copy of the personal data that they provided to the Site. EEA Individuals can exercise these rights by contacting the email address listed at the bottom of this Privacy Policy.  We will respond to such requests in accordance with applicable data protection law.  If EEA Individuals believe that their personal data has been processed in violation of applicable data protection law, they have the right to lodge a complaint with the relevant data protection authority in the country where they reside, where they work, or where the alleged violation occurred.

EEA Individuals may use the contact information above, at any time, to withdraw their consent for the processing of their personal data where we require their consent as a legal basis for processing their personal data.  Any withdrawal will apply only prospectively, and we will continue to retain the personal data that EEA Individuals provided before they withdrew their consent for as long as allowed or required by applicable law.

In addition, you may cancel or modify the email communications you have chosen to receive from us by following the instructions contained in emails from us.  Alternatively, you may email us at the email address listed at the bottom of this Privacy Policy, with your request, stating ’Unsubscribe‘ in the header and what email addresses you wish not to receive our emails. Within a reasonable period, we shall ensure that such email addresses are unsubscribed.

3. Cross-Border Data Transfers:
The personal data collected through the Site will be transferred to the United States.  The recipients of personal data collected through the Site are located in the United States or in the country where the data was collected. The European Commission has not issued a determination that the United States ensures an adequate level of protection for personal data.
